Lisboa, Cascais, Estoril, Loulé (Quinta do Lago), Lagos (São Sebastião and Santa Maria) and Oporto are the most popular places for investors who want to invest in luxury residences.
Luxury Real Estate
In Portugal there are not only Portuguese to invest in luxury properties. Brazilians, Spaniards and French are the ones who invest most in the Portuguese country, although the availability of the investment is not sufficient in view of the values of the dwellings.
Investors are willing to pay up to 2.2 million euros, which represents less than 1.3 million euros than in the rest of Europe. The online Luxury Estate portal also revealed data referring to 2018, demonstrating that the Portuguese invest more in Canada, Australia, Italy and Brazil.
According to these data, Lisboa, Cascais, Estoril, Loulé (Quinta do Lago), Lagos (São Sebastião and Santa Maria) and Porto are the most popular places for investors who want to invest in luxury residences. However there is a problem: the price of real estate is higher than what buyers are willing to pay.
With the increase in tourism, Portugal remains one of the most interesting markets at European level when it comes to residential investments, while still attracting several nationalities. Data from the INE revealed that during the first nine months of 2018 were sold 132,270 houses in Portugal, which moved 17.9 billion euros in the country, resulting in a growth of 30%. These transactions generated an increase of 9% of the average value per business that was made, settling at 135,000 euros.
The housing price index recorded an appreciation of 21.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, which was due to a demand higher than the supply, reveals the real estate confidential.
